What's Inside

This is a book about anxiety. Having anxiety doesn’t just mean you feel nervous sometimes or need to calm down. It means having an uncontrollable feeling that gets in the way of what you normally do. This book explores what anxiety is like and what life can look like when you’re able to manage to live with anxiety.

About the Author

Ross Szabo is an award-winning pioneer of the youth mental health movement. During his 8 years as Director of Outreach at the National Mental Health Awareness Campaign, he helped create the first youth mental health speakers’ bureau in the country and personally spoke to over one million people. He is currently the Wellness Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA and CEO of the Human Power Project. He’s using both of these opportunities to change the way communities learn about mental health.

Love it!

Such an understandable, not scary way of describing anxiety! My 7 year old really liked it and she’s now starting to use anxiety as an agitative to describe when she’s feeling anxious. Where before she would say things like my belly hurts, or something feels wrong. Grateful for this tool for communication!

Engaging

My anxious 8-year-old claims that he only likes books with lots of pictures, so I was a little concerned that despite the colorful and playful format, he would not engage with this book. I'm glad I took a chance with it. He found it very relatable and was willing to talk with me openly about what anxiety feels like to him.

Really connected with my daughter

My daughter definitely understood that the anxiety the book was talking about was a feeling she had had that she couldn't identify before.
